- Filmmaker James Gunn confirmed on Twitter that he is writing and directing the sequel to Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. We noted before that the movie was rumored for May 2016 but Gunn noted that it will be released on July 28th, 2017. Batista will be returning as Drax the Destroyer.
