Nearly twenty-five years earlier, there was another character of the same description. A calloused, no-nonsense villain named "Bad News" Brown. Brown came into the WWE by storm, making some noise by defeating his opponents with his "Ghetto Blaster" finishing maneuver. His two biggest foes were Bret Hart and Roddy Piper, in which the latter feud led to a match at WrestleMania.
Although the characters were both villainous, their approaches did slightly differ. While Barrett looked to conquer his opponents with mind games before the match, aggressively beating down his foes was more of Brown's objective. Regardless, both have left a mark in WWE history.
