Jim Ross Blogs On Hulk Hogan's Birthday On RAW, Paul Heyman On The Mic, Stephanie & Brie, More

Jim Ross Blogs On Hulk Hogan's Birthday On RAW, Paul Heyman On The Mic, Stephanie & Brie, MoreSource: JR's BBQ
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with a new blog on jrsbarbq.com. As always, you can purchase JR's BBQ products onWWEshop.com. Here are some highlights from this entry on last night's RAW:
WWE is to be commended on their production values on such presentations likeHulk Hogan's 61st birthday party. It wasn't over done and had enough "dirty looks" from some of the great stars in the ring and potential angle alerts to make it fun.
Paul Heyman has become pure gold on the mic but that isn't a revelation or new news. The first segment with Heyman and Brock Lesnar was excellent. Lesnar has become Sasquatch. If Lesnar doesn't win the WWE World Title Sunday in LA at Summer Slam, I will be surprised. This championship should be a match dotted with physicality. Hey, who knows. perhaps WWE goes the surprise route because so many folks including me think that Lesnar should be the champion regardless of his schedule.
- The Stephanie-Brie Bella story has been well done even though the segment with the physical therapist Monday night on RAW was a little long for my taste but I'm looking forward to watching them in the ring Sunday and expect some surprises. (Angle Alert!)
- Again, the birthday party for Hogan tied together well with Lesnar vs. Cena at Summer Slam. This should be a great show Sunday if the matches have the time to tell viable stories. However, when in LA the WWE generally goes "Hollywood" and I'd expect this Sunday to be much of the same. That's cool but give me my wrestling.
JR also talks about John Cena's RAW promo, Roman Reigns winning via DQ, his new podcast with Bully Ray and more in this entry.

Backstage News On Why Spike Doesn't Want To Renew TNA, TNA On Other Networks?, More

While Viacom, parent company of Spike TV, and TNA have both said they are still in negotiations, multiple sources have confirmed TMZ's story to The Wrestling Observer that Spike informed Dixie Carter in a meeting that they were not interested in renewing the deal for Impact Wrestling.
Multiple sources report to The Wrestling Observer that there are two key reasons Spike doesn't want to renew - they didn't believe the product was cost effective for what they pay for it and the fact they were outright lied to about Vince Russo's status with the company. TNA had already denied Russo working for them and when Russo meant to e-mail TNA employees but accidentally e-mailed Mike Johnson of PWInsider, TNA went into panic mode because Spike had made it clear they didn't want Russo involved. We noted earlier today that Russo is once again done with TNA.
Spike TV reportedly wanted to make the situation as amenable as possible, which would be the opposite of what they did with WWE in 2005. Spike won't be talking publicly about the deal or making any statements that would hurt TNA's leverage. Apparently if TNA is able to land a new TV deal, Spike is willing to make the transition as smooth as possible. Even though TNA's contract with Spike expires in two months, there's been no word yet on a specific date that they will take TNA's programming off the air.
There's some speculation that Spike officials telling Dixie that they won't be renewing the deal is just a hardball negotiating tactic, just like not having a deal this late is. Many people, including fans, point out that most major networks already have their fall primetime scheduled filled up. People in the TV industry do not believe that United Talent Agency, which has been representing TNA in negotiations, has a back-up plan. Within the TV industry, there is a lack of interest in pro wrestling due to the inability to get premium advertising revenue.
There's also talk that Spike is willing to keep the show but wants to cut down on the licensing fees they pay. We've also noted that there's speculation, even among industry experts like Jim Ross, that Spike could be looking to own their wrestling company by purchasing TNA, like they did with Bellator MMA.

A video that has received a lot of attention is that of a fan approaching Brock Lesnar and his wife, former WWE Diva Sable, last week at Orlando International Airport for a photo and being denied. The person who shot the footage, the girl's husband, detailed the awkward encounter in the video's description.
"Saori went up to Brock and ask if he was Brock Lesnar... Brock first didn't hear her until Sable said to Brock" I think she is talking to you", then Brock turn around and looked at Saori and asked "How are you?", Saori said fine and she ask him"Are you Brock Lesnar?" He said "Yes" and then she ask "Can i take a picture with you?" And he said "No, not today", Saori then said thank you and walked away ... .. I told Saori it was ok ... No worries .. -It was still cool to see him and see my wife talk to Brock."
- According to Ticketmaster.com, a WWE live event scheduled for Friday, August 15—two days before SummerSlam—has been canceled. WWE.com has also removed its listing for the event.

WWE Live Event Results From Edmonton (7/26): Big Show In Action, Diva Referees, Kidd, More

WWE Live Event Results From Edmonton (7/26): Big Show In Action, Diva Referees, Kidd, MoreThanks to Jim Finney for the following WWE live event results from Saturday night's show in Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada:
The crowd into the show for most matches but it was nowhere near sold out. Lots of empty seats. It felt like they shorted us on matches but there were several lengthy matches.
* Eden was the ring announcer.
R-Truth defeated Fandango.
* Tyson Kidd, Diego and El Torito defeated Hornswoggle, Heath Slater and Titus O'Neil. Kidd got a very big reaction but nobody liked the fact he was teaming with the Los Matadores. A big chant broke out for Kidd to be tagged in and he got the hot tag.
The Miz defeated Kofi Kingston to retain the Intercontinental Championship in a long boring match. It seemed like Miz got the wrong kind of heat for his new gimmick.
* The Usos retained the Tag Team Championships over Erick Rowan and Luke Harper. Just as good as their recent TV matches.
Emma and Natalya defeated Alicia Fox and Rosa Mendes with Eva Marie as referee. Natalya got a huge pop like Kidd but Eva Marie may have got more boos than anyone. Fox threw a fit after the match.
Big Show made a surprise appearance and got a huge pop, maybe bigger than Kidd and Natalya. He defeated Cesaro in a fun match with the chokeslam. A feud between these two seems like it would be good.
Chris Jericho defeated Bray Wyatt after a Codebreaker into a chair. This was better than their Battleground match and their older match in NXT. The Wyatt Family tried to beat Jericho down after the match but The Usos made the save. This was a great main event from the entrances to the end.
Biggest Pops: Big Show, Tyson Kidd, Natalya
Biggest Heat: The Miz, Eva Marie, Fandango

WWE Live Event Results From OKC (7/26): Big Reaction For Swagger, Flair As Ref, Sandow, More

WWE Live Event Results From OKC (7/26): Big Reaction For Swagger, Flair As Ref, Sandow, MoreThanks to Corey Swaim for the following WWE live event results from Saturday night's show in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma:
The Chesapeake Energy Arena was packed and hot all night, especially for Jack Swagger. Here are the results, with some out of order:
Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose tore the house down to start. Ambrose won by DQ when Rollins used the briefcase.
Bo Dallas defeated Zack Ryder. Bo cut a great promo.
Ric Flair cut a promo about Oklahoma City and hyped tonight's main event.
Sin Cara defeated Damien Sandow, who got a bunch of heat by coming out in a Texas t-shirt.
* Sandow complained about not being ready and out came The Great Khali, who squashed him.
AJ Lee defeated Paige by submission with the WWE Divas Championship on the line.
Adam Rose got the best of Justin Gabriel, who played a decent heel. Fans voted for this to be a dance off over a match. Gabriel cut a good heel promo before the match. Rose had just 3 Rosebuds with him tonight.
Dolph Ziggler came out to a monster pop and defeated Alberto Del Rio in another great match. Ziggler is amazing and sold the entire match.
* Lana and Rusev came out and got big heat with one of their promos. Putin's photo on the big screen didn't help. Local hero Jack Swagger came out with Zeb Colter to a huge pop. Swagger was wearing a Blake Bell Sooners jersey and had an American flag. Great entrance and reaction for him. They had a fun brawl and Swagger got the best of Rusev but not the win.
* Stardust and Goldust defeated Ryback and Curtis Axel. Both teams were actually pretty over but everyone seems to be liking the Stardust character. Great, entertaining performance by both teams also.
Roman Reigns defeated Randy Orton in a Street Fight with Flair as referee. Me and my buddy both said we expected better. Flair was a nice touch but the match just felt like it was missing something. Reigns and Orton both worked hard and Reigns sent the fans home happy.

Jim Ross Blogs On Brock Lesnar's RAW Return, Heyman's Promo, IC Title Booking, Stephanie, More

Source: JR's BBQ
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with a new blog on jrsbarbq.com. As always, you can purchase JR's BBQ products on WWEshop.com. Here are some highlights from this entry:
- It makes perfect sense for Brock Lesnar to challenge John Cena for the WWE Title at Summer Slam and for Lesnar, as I've outlined on the Ross Report podcast the past couple of months, to win the title and then lose it to Roman Reigns at WM31. I love Lesnar as champion and his infrequent, in person schedule of making Monday Night Raw shows doesn't bother me at all especially if the creative team has their thinking caps on and the booking is territory-like as in where the world champion was never on regular, weekly TV.
Paul Heyman @HeymanHustle promo to close RAW was one of the best that I have heard in years. Even though I am WAY out of the WWE loop, I am still proud that I was able to help Paul early in his career and hope that his DVD that's released soon will be a huge hit. Listen to Heyman's promo again and see how he covered every base and will have the Summer Slam crowd in LA loudly cheering for the 'Angry Viking' vs. ' The Dr. of Thugonomics' as Paul described Cena. In other worlds, the main event at S'Slam will be loaded with emotion especially if Cena takes it dead serious in his promos between now and then.
Stephanie McMahon arguably stole the show with her interaction with Brie Bella and subsequently Steph getting 'arrested.' Her facials were priceless as was her timing and her natural ability to be a heel. The acorn doesn't fall far from the tree. Steph wrestling at Summer Slam is a gimme as it should be.
- The IC Title is ice cold and the way the championship is being booked is a head scratcher. The IC and US title holders the past year have likely had some of the worse won-loss records on the broadcasts of any talents on the roster. That's no way to build a title. Why there is no long term, thought out program for both the IC and the US Champions is an unacceptable mystery.
Ross also talks about Flo Rida's RAW appearance, Cesaro vs. Ambrose, Ryder & Ziggler winning, Big E and Kofi Kingston, his interview with AJ Styles and more in this entry.

Bo Dallas Talks About Looking Up To Kurt Angle, WWE Developmental, The WWE IC Title, More

Bo Dallas Talks About Looking Up To Kurt Angle, WWE Developmental, The WWE IC Title, MoreBo Dallas recently spoke with Billy Donnelly of ThisIsInfamous.com. Below are some highlights:
How different was his first main roster experience?
"Very different. What happened in the 2013 Royal Rumble and what happened in the follow up on Monday Night RAW… And then I got the opportunity to go down to NXT and I won an NXT championship. At that time in my career, I spent around eight months to completely develop this character that had become so much more of a full, rounded superstar. I learned so much in that time and I'm a completely different performer than I was before."
How WWE developmental is now:
"I feel the difference these days… It's definitely positive. I mean they've taken WWE developmental to a whole other level. The NXT platform is its own brand. The way that they pair us these days is amazing, because something from NXT to RAW or Smackdown, there are very little differences, because there were so well prepared for the next phase of the game."
Are their other personalities he's used for inspiration?
"Yes, Kurt Angle is the #1 when it comes to who is most similar to what I'm doing and that's who I've looked up to a lot, and learned many things from. Honestly the other WWE Superstar that I can say I've learned from was John Cena, taking his messages and taking them to the fullest with complete positivity. Never back down, never give up, and Bo-lieving in that and not straying from that and believing John Cena's messages to the fullest."
Possibly winning the Intercontinental Title:
"I grew up watching, I grew up a huge man. If you look back at the Intercontinental Championship, you've got Shawn MichaelsBret Hart, Randy "Macho Man" Savage, Mr. Perfect. This title is a legacy and I believe it needs to be brought back to that. It needs to be put back on its pedestal, and if I can obtain this title it would be a major life and career achievement and I would do anything in my power to bring it back to the prestige that it deserves."

Chris Jericho Praises Longtime WWE Employee, Talks Similarities Between Music & Wrestling, More

The Miami Herald has published part 1 of their new interview with Chris Jericho. Here are some highlights:
Chris Jericho Praises Longtime WWE Employee, Talks Similarities Between Music & Wrestling, MoreEntertaining the masses with his talents:
"I think after a while people don't really give a %$#@ what it is [else] that you're doing. When I'm wrestling, I'm in wrestling mode. When I'm on stage with Fozzy, I'm in Fozzy mode. They're two separate things, and it's cool that I do both. I think a lot of people think it's cool and can understand that I'm good at both. I don't listen to negative people or care about negative people or worry about negative people. I just worry about doing the best I can do with whatever projects I decide to do."
Similarities between music and wrestling:
"There's a lot of similarities between the two. They're both very high energy, aggressive forms of entertainment, very dependent on the reactions you get from the crowd. If the crowd is excited, it makes for a better show -- both in wrestling and with Fozzy. So you get a lot of crossover because there is that certain vibe in both. Certainly WWE superstars are like rock stars -- larger than life, over the top personalities -- and that's what you're always looking for in rock-n-roll. Sometimes you get it, and sometimes you don't, and sometimes you get that in wrestling, and sometimes you don't. Especially when you go to a WWE show with all the fire [and loud noise] and pyrotechnic, a lot of times it's more than a rock show, than a rock show you might see. There is a common ground between the two."
WWE's Jim Johnston, who composes theme songs:
"[Johnston] does a great job at what he does. He really finds the inner core, the inner seed of what the person's personality is, of what the character's personality is, and really latches on to that. It always amazes me to see what he comes up with for guys who have been around for years, for guys who are just starting..He's definitely an invaluable member of the WWE's team for sure."
